2002 Game of the Year Awards
Ah yes, the beloved year-end awards. Every site and publication has them, and we at GWX are no different. Our editors sat down and voted, re-voted, tallied, re-tallied, yelled, screamed, punched, kicked, hugged, kissed and danced with each other to bring you the results of our first annual GamingWorld X Awards. Sure, they're a little late, but read on to find out how much it was worth it.
Here’s a little information about how the winners were chosen. First, the categories were decided upon months in advance. As this is our first time doing an awards feature, the process and categories will no doubt be refined with each successive year. As always, we’re open to suggestions, so please send your ideas for categories in here.
After the categories were decided upon, lists of every game released in 2002 for each platform were compiled and given to our staffers. Round One had our staffers selecting their top five games from each category on the master lists. From there, we tallied up the votes and selected the five games with the most votes and put them into our Round Two ballot, the winners of which would wind up in our Round Three, and Final Ballot. Complicated? A bit, but also well worth the pain and effort. After many tie breakers and arguments, the winners were selected.
Not happy with our selections? Well f**k off! No, seriously, send in your choices for the best games of 2002 to our mailbag feature, X-Communication.
And without further ado, the staff of GamingWorld X is proud to present our 2002 GWX Awards!
