Capcom licenses a "cockpit simulator" designed to house the game's mammoth controller for even more authenticity.
Masaya LLC, has manufactured a specially designed cockpit for Capcom's Steel Batallion series, with the “intention [of helping] fans of Steel Battalion immerse themselves even more into this wonderful world".
“Steel Armor not only combines the positive points of our original Mushaburui Cockpit Simulator, but also has been specially customized to appeal to hardcore fans of the Steel Battalion franchise," says Masaya Akiyama, founder of Masaya LLC.
Masaya’s "Steel Armor" is constructed of an adjustable steel frame and controller/pedal decks with a "fiber reinforced plastic" bucket seat. Though the cockpit is designed for Steel Battalion, the controller deck plate is removable, allowing Steel Armor to also house a steering wheel and pedals for a racing game.
Steel Armor doesn't sell cheap - the manufacturer's price is $439. Visit FarEastGaming.com for pictures of the unique item and pre-ordering information. Steel Armor will be available in early March, following the Xbox release of Steel Battalion: Line of Contact on February 26.
