The reassuring Nintendo denies reports that the successor to the GameCube has been delayed.
In a counter remark against the recent Japanese rumors that the GameCube's successor would see a delay, Nintendo once again made it clear that "[their] machine will be ready at the same time as the other new consoles."
"Other companies aren't expected to come out with next-generation consoles until late 2005 or 2006," Nintendo spokesman Yasuhiro Minagawa told Reuters. He said that Nintendo will have a new home system ready by the time PS3 and Xbox 2 have launched.
This contradicts the recent rumors that Nintendo is developing a device for the current GameCube that would extend its life by improving graphics and sound. Obviously, Nintendo has not commented on the existence of such a peripheral.
