Nintendo Sells Over 20 Million GBAs in U.S.
2/11/2004 at 9:21 PM

Nintendo proves with numbers that their portable system is as popular as ever.

Nintendo today announced that its most succesful product has sold over 20 million units in the United States. The company claims that these combined sales of the Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Advance SP have surpassed those of the original Game Boy and Game Boy Color, which during their first two-and-a-half years on the market sold only 2.4 million and 14.3 million units, respectively.

The original GBA was released in June of 2001, while the newer (and more expensive) SP model hit stores last March. The original GBA initially cost $99, but has dropped to $69 since the SP came out. The front-lit GBA SP currently retails for $99.
